Couple built a humongous custom-bed so they can sleep with all of their 8 rescue dogs
There are two types of dog owners in this world, the ones that let their dogs sleep with them and the ones who don’t. And although many of us are in the former category, Chris and Mariesa Hughes definitely take it to the extreme!
The couple, who together run a senior dog rescue program, The Mr. Mo Project, are proud dog mom and dad’s to 8 gorgeous rescues all of which, they share their bed with. Yep, That’s right ALL of them!
So, they decided to create a humongous bed, the likes of which had never been seen before, that could comfortably fit the whole family
Now, it doesn’t take a genius to tell you that this can get a little tricky, with the couple admittedly having more than their fair share of sleepless nights, sometimes having to rest their head elsewhere!
The Hughes quickly had enough of couch-surfing in their own home but couldn’t bring themselves to kick their beloved pups out of the bed, so they came up with a plan, so insane, that it might actually work.
They decided to get a bigger bed, a mega bed! Big enough for their clan of 10!
This is where family friend and carpenter extraordinaire; Mike Ford comes in. After receiving a call from the Hughes, Mike spent the next 6 months building a gargantuan bed, perfect for two humans and 8 dogs.
If by any chance, you’re wondering what on earth that looks like; think 14 feet long and 7 feet wide!
The colossal bed takes a king-sized and a full-size mattress, sideways at the bottom, and even has its own doggo staircase for the elderly dogs who struggle to mount the bed.
Yep, the bed comes with all the bells and whistles, with Mike even engraving it with the paw print of his deceased senior dog.
So, it’s no surprise that this little (or should we say massive) investment didn’t come cheap, costing the Hughes a total of $4,800.
Needless to say, this was money well spent and now the Hughes and their darling Doggies can sleep well at night. Sweet dreams!
Even with this crowd, there’s plenty of room left for the Hugheses, who report feeling extremely refreshed and well-rested, for a change.
So refreshed in fact, there’s talk that the mega-bed may even be able to accommodate yet another couple of rescue dogs.
