Doggy dance-off! Adorable moment Archie the sprocker spaniel copies his owner’s salsa steps
Trained ballet dancer Trevor Miller, 57, is teaching jazz moves to spaniel Archie.
Archie was filmed as Mr Miller stepped out to David Benoit’s ‘Life is Like a Samba’. The pooch then copied the routine in a video taken by Mr Miller’s wife Linda, 54.
Footage shows the excited 10-month-old spaniel, his eyes fixed firmly on the tennis ball at Mr Miller’s feet, getting increasingly excited as his owner does some quick steps to David Benoit’s ‘Life is like a Samba’.
Archie watched patiently for his turn before copying the routine, jumping from side to side, wagging his tail and pawing the floor in time with the music.
At the end of the clip Mr Miller kicked the ball to the delighted dog – a cross between a springer and a cocker spaniel – who eagerly caught it in his mouth.
Mrs Miller said: ‘Archie loves our music nights and usually just watches his dad dance away. This particular night though was purely spontaneous and unplanned or edited.
‘Archie blew us away with his jazz dance etiquette, where you wait until your opponent has finished to then try to out-dance them.
‘It was absolutely amazing and so unreal to watch. He utterly loved it.
‘We have a vast vinyl collection of all genres of music so every Friday evening we love to spin some vinyl and have a dance.
‘Trevor has a long dance history. He left his hometown of Bolton in 1984 to join Urdang Academy, Covent Garden, to study ballet.
‘After graduating with a distinction in Russian ballet, he joined a group called Brothers In Jazz, who were iconic leaders of bebop jazz in the UK.
‘They made a big impact in Japan and have lots of followers. Trevor and I were together in the 80s before he left to pursue his dance career in London.
‘Then 30 years later we met back up and have now been happily married since 2013.’
