How special is the 5-year-old pig who works as a psychologist at the San Francisco airport?
Adorable pig LiLou at San Francisco airport always wants passengers to be happy and comfortable before boarding.
5-year-old pig Juliana and her owner, Tatyana Danilova, are part of the “Wag Brigade” therapy animal program at San Francisco International Airport, USA. The purpose of this activity is to make passengers happy and relieve stress before boarding.
Lilou the pig wears a pilot’s hat, its paws are painted bright red. He walked freely from the metal detector in the airport security area to the take-off gate. He raises his paw to greet passengers, takes selfies or uses his toy piano to entertain passengers.
“People find it relaxing and happy to be distracted from their commutes and schedules, whether they’re traveling on vacation or on a business trip. A few minutes spent with a little pig makes them smile and happier. ” – said Ms. Danilova, owner of the pig.
When not at the airport, the pig LiLou lives with Ms. Danilova in a central San Francisco apartment.
LiLou’s daily food is organic vegetables and protein pellets. LiLou has her own bed and is often taken for walks near the house.
Ms. Danilova shared that although Lilou loves to talk to people, with instinct as an animal, it also hates being approached from behind.
San Fransico Airport Customer Service Manager Jennifer Kazarian said LiLou is the first airport psychotherapy pig in the “Wag Brigade” program.
This activity also features dogs of various breeds and sizes.
“When we did this, our goal was to minimize stress for our passengers.
Then we discovered that it helped us form a connection with our customers. ” – Jennifer Kazarian said excitedly.
All pets participating in training at the San Francisco airport must have a stable body temperature, be docile and have a friendly disposition.
Kazarian says that very few unintended situations happen when four-legged friends play with guests.
All pets are home trained.
